2nd time to island and heard a lot about this place so decided to try. It was just after 4 and pretty busy. We ate at the bar, no seating available for tables. Ordered drinks and appetizer. Was pretty good. Ordered fish and chips for entree. It was horrible. Thick battered and over cooked burnt... you could barely break it with a fork... almost took picture to post. Inside was greasy thin fish. We asked the waitress if that was how it normally looked and she rolled her eyes and said yeah.... then asked aren't you enjoying it! I get you can always get that one off meal from somewhere....but between the eye rolling and bad food.....Won't be coming back!

We’ve been coming to Brennecke’s mainly for happy hour since it opened. We were so looking forward to some of your terrific nachos. Our waitress was great, our Mai Tais good but our Pork Nachos were made of soggy chips, very little if any cheese and very little avocado. We hope when we return next year, they will be Once again, crispy, cheesy and full of flavor

I have visited Brennecke's many times over the years. The latest visit was yesterday. To be honest, it was a disappointment. I feel like I ran into a situation where supply and demand issues were aggravated by greed. As is almost always the case, the restaurant was very busy. It was also understaffed. No surprises there. Because they can, the restaurant has raised its prices to the point where, to be very honest, the experience was not worth the cost. My wife and I each ordered the signature macadamia crusted Ono, normally one of our favorites. Unfortunately, while the fish portions were generous, the meager sides were unimpressive. For $46 a plate, our overcooked fish was disappointing. The delicious sauce helped but there was not enough of it top help with the dryness of the overcooked fish or the ball of rice that was included. $17 for a glass of average chardonnay pushed reasonable boundaries. My wife and I agreed that, in the future, we will probably limit our orders at Brenneckes to happy hour nachos. Hopefully Brenneckes' management will recognize that price gouging and poor food quality do not pair well.

We ate dinner and lunch at Brenekes the week of Feb 16-24 2022, The food was good and the waiters were engaging. However, the ground level deli where they sell “Puka Dogs” and shaved ice is a model of inefficiently. to stand in line for 45 minutes is the dumbest thing I’ve ever seen from an operator that has a captive audience and a decent product. The help clearly are burned out with the steady stream of customers and could care less if you had to wait all day or not. They Clearly own a gold mine with no desire for mining.

Very disappointed! First let me say that the food and drinks were very good and we had a great experience with our waitress. Our issue was with the host Keith who I later found out was the manager! I took my family here during for our last day of vacation thinking it looked like a great place to eat near the beach. There was a hour wait since we had a larger party which was fine because they served us drinks while we were waiting which was really cool. About a hour later I walked up to Keith to see how things were looking and he said that it would be a little longer and that “I needed to be patient.” I said ok and right then a table opened up which was next to another table that had been empty thinking that we could push the tables together. I asked if that would work and Keith immediately put his hand in the air towards my face and said “You need to chill.” and walked away! Then I can hear him complaining to the bartender about me being pushy. I was merely trying to figure out how thing were looking since we had been waiting quietly for the past hour. Even if I was being “pushy”, that doesn’t give you the right to be so rude and condescending. After we ate our meal I asked to talk to the manager about the experience and thats when I found out Kieth was the manager. I was shocked that someone with this kind of service was running a place like this. I would love to recommend this place but customer service needs to be #1 priority and he failed miserably. He was even giving me dirty faces while we were eating and while we walked out. I have never been so humiliated like this at a restaurant. While the food and drinks were great, I will never return because of the horrible experience he gave my family and I.

Our first time to Brenneckes, it was just what we were looking for. Great service, Van was our server and she was wonderful, great food and the atmosphere was exactly what were were looking for, Casual and comfortable. Can’t say enough about this experience.

My favorite place on the island to eat! We have eaten here several times during our stay and they never disappoint! Had the blacken ahi sandwich today and my husband had the ube pancakes. Both delicious!!! Must eat here if you visit Kauai!!

The food & ambiance are 5 star. Service on the other hand leaves a bit to be desired. We were there on Valentines Day, music was outstanding, food wonderful, but service was “jam karat” which in Indonesian is “rubber time”. Guess that’s the same as “Hawaiian time”. Really ignoring when waiting for drinks, food, & desert. Staff needs training & realize they can sell more & earn higher tips.

We visited the Poipu Beach and afterwards wanted to grab something to eat. We stopped in and purchased two panini. (FYI panini is Italian for sandwiches, it is the plural. Panino is the singular for sandwich.) We got a turkey which was really good and we got a ham with pesto which was exceptional. This was easily one of the best things we had to eat during our visit to Kauai. We actually tried to return on two subsequent occasions but arrived past closing. A visit to Brennecke’s for one of these sandwiches is well worth your time.
