Brenneckes is great, super view, friendly and lots of aloha ;good food, good drinks, help with actvities, and also renting snorkel gear next door at Nukumoi . And, they are right across the road from Poipu Beach.. Our first evening in Kauai, and having no idea where to eat we decided to try your restaurant because we had driven by it when checking out the beach. When we arrived, we were told as walkins it would be a two hour wait. I couldn’t imagine that that was actually true so we hung out had a drink with an appetizer and we waited. When I went to the bar and asked the bartender to make me a specific drink, he was a little bent out of shape when I asked him to make it a specific way for me. He actually made some snide remark regarding “don’t tell me how to make a drink”but said it under his breath so I couldn’t really catch him on it, after waiting incredibly long for a table we finally slipped into two seats at the bar luckily not having to deal with the bartender who made the snide remark to me . We ordered something very typical, the crusted mahi, and some scallops over risotto. To say that the dishes were completely underwhelming is an understatement. After leaving your establishment and having conversations with other people in the area regarding restaurants, I was told that yours has one of the worst reputations, wish I had done more research before we decided to make you our first stop on our vacation. You have the location and that’s about it it..

Got takeout fish and chips. Tried to order online and by phone, but apparently those options aren't available, regardless of what the website says. Ordered in person and the wait wasn't long. Unfortunately, it came out of the kitchen completely cold! Really??? Any cheap burger shop can do better that this! Disgusting! Never again!

Sat down ordered drinks waited over 30 minutes and we never received our drinks. Waitress was terrible we felt as if we were invisible. The host was non friendly & catered to his Client’s. We got up & left not the dining experience that we expected.

The waitress from San Diego helped us and was so kind and friendly and attentive- especially with our kids. The fish and chips was awesome and the ahi sandwich was ..mm-mmmmmm! The atmosphere is the epitome of island life. Thank you so much!

We love Brennecke’s. We’ve been coming for almost 30 years. We just left and believe management should be aware that a waitress named “Paris” does not meet Brennecke’s wonderful service record. We understand that it is hard to find good servers but “Paris” is a server that doesn’t make you feel welcome. Your 28 year hostess and bar server with the beautiful blue eyes do. We will come back for them but will encourage friends and family to avoid Paris. Thank you for the many years of great memories. Catherine Messman

We have been coming here for over 40 years on an annual trip. This has always been a family favorite for dinner and drinks.... In May 2022 when we were here, I tried to make a reservation and was told I couldn't. So we went one evening and the wait wasn't bad. The menu more disappointing. less choices. 5 months later we returned (Oct 2022). We went to dinner and were told the wait is 30-40 minutes. They said we should have made a reservation. What???? We waited for and hour and 10 minutes, still no table. When we asked how long, he abruptly said he can't make people leave. ( I get it). We finally left very disappointed. Our new favorite dinner place is elsewhere now. So much for customer loyalty....

I’ll give two stars because we’ve eaten here many times and it’s been decent. The service is normally great too but unfortunately tonight was different . I ordered risotto twice this week. First time was great, tonight it tasted like rice soup with zero flavor. I’m guessing it was a different cook or they threw it together because it was the end of the night. I also ordered Merlot, and it was served chilled. When I questioned the waitress, she acted like I was an idiot for asking and told me room temperature in Hawaii is too hot. Maybe so, however I had a glass of cab earlier in the week that was in fact served at room temperature. Pretty disappointing meal for our last night on the island.

We had dinner twice in February 2022. Our service was very good and I had a great conversation with Hoku, the General Manager. I left my Chicago Cubs hat with him and it now hangs over the reception desk. This means a lot to me. This is a good place to dine. Go there and enjoy yourselves. The wait staff works very hard and so does the kitchen. This is what Hawaii is all about.

While vacationing this week in Kauai, we decided to check out this restaurant. Despite the long wait time we were looking forward to a great meal, and enjoy the live music. Our server Kyle was awful. When we were finally seated, we watched as he visited with other servers, oblivious to us waiting on him to place our order. We then had to ask him for drink refills, more water, our appetizers….again watching him visit with other employees, completely ignoring us and the other tables in his section. We finally got his attention to bring us the check. Brings this bill, and before I could had him my credit card he was off to visit with more employees. Very, very disappointed. His service or lack there of has assured we will never return.
