He was a lover of people, good food and drink and the relaxed environment of Poipu. He was of German descent and a stowaway on a ship bound for the Pacific. Times were hard in Hawaii around the turn of the century, but young Brennecke made friends with everyone he came in contact with. He made his home adjacent to a small crescent beach, world-famous today for its excellent curling waves, perfect for body surfing—the favorite of Hawaiian kings of old and boogie boarders of today.

Bob and Christine French own and oversee the various entities of Brennecke’s Beach Center, and have surrounded themselves with people that take pride in the products they represent. When asked about the secret to his success, Bob says “it’s really no secret—if you want to end with a great product, start with the best you can find and do as little to it as possible. This is true in both food and retail products, as well as the people you surround yourself with.”
